Free Online Libraries © Beverley Paine The Baldwin Online Children's Literature Project brings yesterday's classics to today's children. Established a few years ago, The Baldwin Project seeks to make available online a comprehensive collection of resources for parents and teachers of children. Our focus, initially, is on literature for children that is in the public domain in the United States. This includes all works first published before 1923. The period from 1880 or so until 1922 offers a wealth of material in all categories, including: Nursery Rhymes, Fables, Folk Tales, Myths, Legends and Hero Stories, Literary Fairy Tales, Bible Stories, Nature Stories, Biography, History, Fiction, Poetry, Storytelling, Games, and Craft Activities. The Project offer these resources at no charge and grant permission to individuals to print copies for personal and educational uses. ReadPrint.com is a free online library that offers thousands of free books for students, teachers, and the classic enthusiast. To find the book you desire to read, start by looking through the author index. For those who don't like reading, why not get your computer to read the books aloud? I use the speech software that came with my operating system to read back what I've written as it helps to pick up grammatical errors while I'm editing. It sounds funny, but I'm sure there is much better software available that has natural sounding voices. If you don't have time to read aloud every day and you children are happy to sit and listen while doing a quiet activity you can easily set up a chapter of 'The Invisible Man' or 'Little Women'. |

Pioneering members of the home education movement in Australia, Beverley and Robin Paine are passionate advocates of true educational choice for families. They began homeschooling their children in 1986 and three years later started the South Australian Home Based Learners network. Beverley wrote several books and booklets on home education through her self-publishing business, Always Learning Books, and maintained an extensive collection of websites as well as several Yahoo groups supporting families teaching their children at home. Beverley retired from actively supporting home education in July 2008 to allow her to spend time on her garden and writing projects. She continues to support the Home Education Association of Australia as a committee member. Please note that the opinions and articles included in the suite of Homeschool Australia websites are not necessarily those of Beverley and Robin Paine, nor do we endorse or necessarily recommend products (other than our own) listed in contributed articles, links, pages, or advertisements.
